Lahkin

  • Full Name: Lahkin Stoneheardt
  • Nicknames: Little Talbuk
  • Age: 20 for all intents and purposes (chronologically 1)
  • Home: Lakeshire and Aerie Peak
  • Alignment: Neutral Good
  • Level: 85
  • Race: Human
  • Class: Paladin (Holy/Protection)
  • Guild: Terra Incognita
  • Activities:

Physical Description:

Lahkin is built leanly, quite the odd sight when he's sporting plate armor. His face is angular, and he sports a light moustache and soul patch the same strawberry blonde color as his hair.

Long reddish scars run down the inside of each forearm. He sometimes wears a mechanical brace on his right ankle, especially when fighting.

Threat Assessment:

Low, unless you get him riled.

Special Abilities:

Has some control over the Elements, though neither that nor his Light magic seem to work more than 20% of the time.

Positive Personality Traits:

Kind, gentle, has a sense of an inner strength and insight he hasn't learned to fully tap into yet. Has a sneaking sense of humor.

Negative Personality Traits:

Insecure about a lot of things, which makes him seem more inept and dimwitted than he really is. Is reluctant to say what he's really thinking and feeling, in fear of being misunderstood. Prone to streaks of extreme stubbornness.

Miscellaneous Quirks:

Has suffered nerve damage to his right foot. Cannot read or write easily: most letters are dictated or read out loud to him. Still learning how to swim.

History:

Lahkin's true age is a oddity. While he looks and acts like a young adult of about 20, he's in reality barely over the age of 1 year. During an assassination attempt made by Sathrasa on himself and his mother, the mage Jacksen teleported the pair away to safety. Something about the magic malfunctioned, catching Lahkin in a time warp and causing him to grow up enormously fast. Though the time warp has since been corrected, Lahkin's childhood will never be restored.

After a rocky start to military life, Lahkin was given command of a unit affiliated with the Cathedral of Light and the Argent Dawn, called Terra Incognita.

Oh, Lahkin, whatever shall we do with you?
But sometimes, it takes looking at things through your eyes to see things as they really are. The rest of us tend to be jaded from experience – but you always see the simpler truth.
When I first met you, you reminded me of my dear, lost Pol. I was worried about you, and wanted to make sure you didn’t end up with the same fate as he. I’m not sure I can do that alone, so I’m very glad you have such close friends around you.

Yer a good lad. Bit strange, but good nonetheless.

Them that never open their eyes wide enough to see into him, and them that never shut their mouths long enough to truly hear him, miss the essence of him. He is greatness unrefined.
He is Wind. Fire. Earth. Water. Light.
He will lead and I will follow.

Lahkin is perhaps my best and closest friend as well as a big brother and little brother rolled into one. I would say I would die for him…and in reality I would if it came to it…but more to the point I would fight to the bitter end to protect his life and happiness.

Seems like a nice enough kid.  More than a little green, but just about everyone was green at some point. Can’t fault his valor or his fighting skill.  He’s blessed with good comrades, people he can rely on; that’s rare these days, so between them and his fiancee, he’s quite blessed.

Lahkin’s the kind of person I can get behind.  He knows what he wants to do, and has the courage to get up and get it done.  All he really needs is the confidence in himself to trust his own judgment.  The way I see it, his only real fault as a leader is that he sometimes appears unsure of himself.

If he can nail that much, I bet even Turrick’d be willing to listen to him – and from what I’ve seen of him, that’s an accomplishment.

Lahkin, for someone who has spent so little time alive, has a keen sense of what he believes is right and wrong. He’s a solid judge of character, as well. I don’t always agree with him, but there’s seldom any use in arguing. It’s best to stand back and jump in to help if he gets in over his head.

The first time I truly spoke with Lahkin was at a party hosted in Hearthglen.  Sathrasa wished to speak to him, and I, being newly reacquainted with the world at the time, strove to achieve such a meeting.  Many were outraged that I let them speak – they wished to further protect the boy from his attacker.  Myself, I did the only reasonable thing to me – I asked him what he wanted, and I let him try his strength.  He spoke with her, handled himself as well as a man in that case could possibly handle himself.  Though, I must admit, I am no fool – I was ready to rip her to shreds should she have hurt him.

I’ve never been truly close with Lahkin – my time in the field keeps me away from truly connecting with many people – but that story always sticks in my mind when I’m around him.  Many looked to patronize him, coddle him as a child, and given his unusually short life I understand the impulse.  But there is a wisdom in Lahkin, an instinct towards sound judgment, that would make him great if only he was more sure of his footing.

And, seeing as how he’s marrying Erelyn – I’ll do what I can to support him.

Lahkin great person! Yep! Like him very much. Him n’ Eri. Got to see wedding, very pretty! Also got first flight. Did you know Lahkin can be a dragon?! So cool!

Oh oh! He help me pick out a name too! Name Bethanie now, no longer Girl! Is good ’cause I forget real name.

A very kind man, I think. Lahkin and his wife, Erelyn, have been very kind to me and seemed to have taken in a good number of my friends. I don’t know them quite well enough yet, but with recent events I believe I will be able to include him in my friends. He is definitely trustworthy.

Ooof. So, this guy tricked me! I was just visitin’, and Bubbles an’ me wanted to see the big kitties! He picked me up when he was a big dragon and tried to fly me back to Silvermoon! What a meanie! You’re not supposed to just go… pickin’ people up and flyin’ them places!

I was privy to a recent attack on this individual by a troll… in Stormwind… as deep in as the Cathedral District. Bizarre. I admit to being curious about him knowing that someone would hire an assassin for such a suicidal attack.

  13. April 28, 2012 at 11:00 am | #13

I heard by Coeden that Lahkin is responsible for killing the Troll that tried to kill me! This makes him even more special to me! Hehe!

Saw him from a distance at the last Society gathering. What Thelinna sees in these paladins is beyond me. Might prove to be a thorn in our side at some point.

Lan-kin is still silly young pup, but has potential. Does not always get along with, but likes him, even when tells me to do stupid things.
